A 46-year-old transient woman was apprehended Thursday afternoon by Special Enforcement Team deputies after having allegedly escaped from the attorney general’s office. She was also arrested on two contempt of court warrants, possession of methamphetamines, drug paraphernalia possession, and attempting to conceal or destroy evidence.

SET Deputies arrested Sally Jean Whooley after they received a report that a bail bondsman had apprehended a fugitive.

The bondsman was following a vehicle from a U.S. Highway 50 East grocery store, which he said was occupied by Sally Whooley who had several warrants issued for her arrest; one of which was for escape from the Nevada Attorney General’s office.

SET deputies intercepted the vehicle before it could turn onto I-580 from Highway 50.

Due to the severity of the charges, the report said, SET deputies initiated a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle. Deputies made contact with Whooley at gunpoint and instructed her to get out of the vehicle.

She was compliant and was taken into custody without issue.

Inside the vehicle, deputies located a methamphetamine pipe with a trace amount of the drug inside, according to the report. After transporting Whooley to the Jail, deputies also later discovered an empty baggie in their patrol vehicle’s rear seat, which appeared to contain trace amounts of meth.

After deputies left the jail, Whooley told booking staff she had orally ingested approximately 4-5 grams of meth prior to being stopped by law enforcement. She was transported to the hospital to receive treatment.

No bail due to escape.

— A 62-year-old man was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender after he came into the Carson City Sheriff’s Office to register.

Kenneth Allen Hayes was arrested after deputies responded to the Civil Division for a sex offender attempting to register. According to dispatch, Hayes had failed to check in during his annual verification time.

According to the report, Hayes is a “Level 3 Sex Offender,” which means he needs to verify with local law enforcement every three months. He did not report in January, and his last reported contact was in North Las Vegas on Dec. 31, 2018 where he registered as a transient.

He told deputies he had traveled from North Las Vegas to Washington and then to Oregon before hitchhiking back to Carson City.

He had been in Behavioral Health Services, he said, after returning to Carson City and knew he was supposed to register, but failed to do so.

Bail: $5,000

— A 19-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday in the 900 block of Roop Street for violation of an extended stalking protection order.

Deputies responded to an apartment complex on a report of a violated protection order, which was served to the 19-year-old on Jan. 15.

According to the apartment manager, the 19-year-old came to the office and said a woman who she was to have no contact with flipped her off while driving by and that it was the manager’s responsibility to tell the woman to “back off,” according to the report.

When deputies spoke to the victim in the protection order, she said she had been in and out of the office several times that day, and during one trip, the 19-year-old had walked right passed her, violating the extended stalking and harassment order she had against her. She said when she walked by, the 19-year-old went to the playground and started filming her with her cell phone.

When the victim was told by management about the warning the 19-year-old wanted to relay, she decided to call and file a report. She said she was frustrated as the 19-year-old has constantly violated the protection order in place to protect herself and her young children.

When deputies made contact with the 19-year-old, she became enraged and began screaming. She said the victim had driven by her and flipped her off, and she went to the office demanding the office do something about the victim flipping her off.

She denied recording the victim. Due to the manager’s statement and the 19-year-old confirming the calls to management she had made regarding the victim, deputies took her into custody for violation of an extended stalking and harassment protection order.
